We woke up this morning to get ready to head to breakfast with the Kepplers and then it began to pour rain. There were rivers flowing down the streets and it was very hazy. We are all ready to head outside when we receive an email from Mr. Keppler. He told us to wait and let the storm pass. The storm didn’t pass and it continued to pour. Mr. Keppler showed up at our door completely soaked, from head to toe. This is very unusually in Turkey, I am told. We continued to wait for the storm to pass in our apartment. Eventually the rain let up a little bit, so we decided to head out. Once we got to the bottom of our hill we realized it would be extremely difficult to cross the street. It was completely covered in water. After managing to cross in a spot that wasn’t completely covered, we met up with the rest of the Keppler family. Since the storm had delayed our plans by a lot we headed to a late breakfast. It was a traditional Turkish breakfast. It was yummy! There were a lot of cheeses, breads, some eggs, and much more.

Following the meal we walked down to the path by the Bosphorus Straight. It was really pretty. We walked by boats, fisherman, and saw jellyfish. One of the fisherman had caught a crab, and the jellyfish were really cool. There are a lot of them in Bosphorus.

When we reached a castle that is on the Bosphorus we decided to go in. It was really cool. There were a lot of stairs that had a wall on one side, but on the other it was just a drop off. It was very unique. It would get kind of hot walking around between the walls, but once you got up to the opening there was a nice breeze. It was very slippery from the rain, so you had to be careful (I took a little spill). The views from the top of the caste were beautiful.

We headed to a cute, little coffee shop in town to hang out for a bit, then headed up to the Keppler’s apartment. On the way up we stopped to get dinner in some of their local shops. They had a different guy for different things. I chicken guy, a vegetables guy, a dried fruit and nuts guy, etc. At their apartment we played some games, cooked dinner, and watched a movie. It was a nice and relaxing evening.
