Today began with a surprise call from Mom and Joey, informing me that plans are being put in place for the second half of the trip. That definitely got me excited for what is to come, but I still have a little under a week here with La Cunza.

Classes today consisted of reviewing the conditional tense and practicing animal vocabulary. We did a couple exercises and played some games to practice each.

After school, five of us, somehow all from Colorado, went to the market to grab some lunch. I, of course, got my usual empanada and green juice. We then walked down to the city's main strip to eat lunch and go to the ATM. Seeing as it's Makaela and I's last week and Ruby and Celeste's first week, we went to find postage stamps after lunch. Ruby needed some to send mail throughout her trip, and I needed to send what I had collected throughout my trip. I love postcards, so I decided to send some to friends back home. I hadn't realized the amount of Post Box's there are around town until Ruby pointed them out, but there's a lot. Walking down one street we probably saw five of them. I dropped the postcards in one of the post boxes, so hopefully they will be on their way soon.

This week's activity is kayaking. After the mail was sent, we headed down to the kayaking shop, and it was hot. I believe it broke 90ºF today. Kayaking is with the same company as stand up paddle boarding was with, so we managed not to get lost. Makaela and I and Ruby and Celeste each went in a two person kayak, and two other boys, one from Colorado and one from California, each went in a one person kayak. Eager to get in the water, we got all our equipment and headed down to the ocean. Makaela and I were lucky enough to get a big splash from the wave we had to go over on our way out. It was refreshingly cool. We quickly found a rhythm and were able to paddle quickly. We went out to the island, and I definitely felt my arms burning from all the paddling by the end. At the island, we pulled our boats to shore and went for a swim. The cool water felt good on a hot day. Body temperatures reduced, we paddled back to La Concha. Makaela and I weren't as in sync this time, given our arms were tired. After our paddle boarding experience, Makaela and I were both nervous for the wave back in. Turns out, it is much easier in a kayak.

Ready for a post-kayaking snack, Makaela and I showed Ruby and Celeste the creperie we went to last week. Sticking to what we knew, Makaela and I ordered the same thing as last week, and Ruby and Celeste each got a Nutella and strawberry crepe. They disappeared quickly, so we continued to relax there for awhile and talk. Rested, we left and did a little bit of shopping. We stayed in old town where there are several souvenir shops and Puka's surf shop. Puka's is the company we surfed with, but they also have a clothing store in old town. Makaela was able to finish most of her shopping for the trip, seeing as she flies home early Saturday morning.

All exhausted from the day, the four of us hugged good-bye and began our walks home, each in separate parts of the city.
