Papa and Dad woke up early this morning: Papa for pictures and Dad for a run. The rest of us enjoyed the luxury of sleeping in. After another typical Costa Rican breakfast it was back to the books for most of us and back to the camera for Papa. Today's adventure is zip lining.
We met the guides and got all geared up in a full harness, helmets, and gloves. Then the hike began to the first line. It was only about a 15 minute hike, but we increased in elevation quite a bit. Seeing as Joelle had zip lined most recently she was sent off first and the rest of us followed. There are eight platforms and seven lines. The farther along we got the more natural it felt. We went over the river, between trees, and through branches. It was beautiful up there. On the last line we let go and just hung. It felt like you were flying. Nana got to watch everyone fly on the last line from our cabin porch.
Mom and Dad went on a hike to the waterfall once we returned, and the rest of us returned to our usual activities. The waterfall was just a little higher up than where we hiked for the zip line. Mom captured some beautiful pictures, and she reported that it was even more beautiful up there.
For dinner we are straying from our usual spot. We will get picked up and brought down the road a little ways to a new restaurant, Kahawa. This restaurant is the sister restaurant to Trogon. The hydroponic farm, that Trogon uses as well, is down by Kahawa. We continue to ask everyone for pineapple after our meals because we simply can't get enough of it.
Tomorrow we say good-bye to San Gerardo de Dota and head to a warmer location.
