Happy Birthday Mom!! We slept in a little and then packed up our bags in preparation of bringing everything over to the Keppler’s apartment. We took a taxi over and dropped off our luggage. Then headed back to the area we had been yesterday.

Taking the taxi and the tram back to the same place was a very weird sense of deja vu. Today we were going to a hamam or turkish bath. We had something small to eat in a cafe outside the hamam and then headed in. The men and women entered the hamam from different sides of the building. We changed and then walked into an area where we sat and poured water over ourselves to begin to wash off. Then some ladies came in and brought us to another area. They used water and a rough hand mitt to completely scrub us down. It felt pretty good, and it is crazy the amount of dead skin that came off. Then we went and laid down on a heated stone slab for the bubble massage. This part was so interesting. They took a pillow case like thing, dipped into a solution, pulled it out, whipped it through the air, and then squeezed it onto us, covering us in bubbles. Then they massaged us a little bit. This was probably my favorite part of the whole thing. Next they washed our hair and then they wrapped us up in a towel and took us to the relaxing area. They brought us a very good drink called sherbet and turkish delight. Joelle and Aleah’s treatment ended here, but Sierra and I went up to get an oil massage. It was very short, but it felt very good. We went back down to the relaxing room and hung out with Joelle and Aleah. Since it was mom’s birthday we got here a special package. She was done a little while after us.

After we were all pampered, we took the tram and bus to a restaurant on the water that we ate at earlier in the trip. We hadn’t had much to eat all day, so we were really hungry. After we ate, we headed back up to the Keppler’s apartment, making a few important stops along the way so we could bring some treats home. Mr. Keppler got a beautiful cake for mom, so we ate that, had some Turkish snacks, and watched a movie. We needed to get up early to take a cab to the airport, so we tried to make sure our bags were put together and ready, then headed off to bed. It was a great last day in Turkey! We will miss the Kepplers and had so much fun on our Turkish vacation!
